The FUT (Follicular Unit Transfer) method, traditionally used in hair transplant procedures, has given way to the FUE method since 2003 due to the development of technology and technical methods in this field. The FUT method is generally no longer used.
The grafts to be taken from the donor site by the Fue method are carefully removed with cylindrical micro-inserts of 0.7 and 0.8 mm in diameter.
The removal of the hair follicles was done only by “manual punch” but also by the
so-called “micromotor devices”, which were used later and are still used. The completion time of the operation takes 6 to 9 hours in all stages.
Hair transplantation through Fue (follicular units)
Before the hair transplant procedure, the hair is shaved with a complete hair machine, once the hairline is determined, a local anaesthetic is applied to the donor area where the hair follicles are removed and numbness occurs quickly. The person feels no pain during the operation and goes through this process easily. As consciousness is open, it is possible to spend time easily by taking breaks. It takes about three hours for the hair follicles to be collected. Normally, hair root death occurs after 2 hours at room temperature and to avoid this, the grafts are kept in a solvent called “hyposal liquid” at +4 to 10 degrees. First, the grafts contained in this solution are separated by groups in the number of single, double, triple hairs. This ensures that the natural appearance is fully achieved by executing more precise targets during planting and making the operation most successful.
After the collection procedure, the hair transplantation phase is started. First, the area to be planted is quickly anaesthetised by local anaesthesia and channels about 3 mm deep are opened where the roots can be easily planted, and these grafts are carefully placed one by one, respecting the angles. This process takes up to three hours. After the planting process is complete, the donor area is covered with bandage and the process is finished. One of the most advantageous aspects of the FUE hair transplant method is that channels smaller than 1 mm are opened in the donor area for the transplant to take place, which means that there is no scarring and the grafts are removed.
In this way, patients can continue with their normal daily activities a few hours after the operation, which provides a high level of comfort.
